At the time, this installation with Klip Collective was the company’s largest undertaking, marking a major shift in content creation as visitors could walk through the installations and experience them from all angles.

I collaborated on the concepts and execution of four pieces, while also supporting the project onsite through preproduction and installation—from site scans, photogrammetry, retopology, and mapping prep to the final mapping process. It was a HUGE project and remains one of my favorite projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on.

Amphitheater

10 Oligarchs stand atop an aphitheater of granite blocks. Why not make 'em talk, barf rainbows, and generally just get wild.

It's essential to watch this one with the sound ON!

I used MIDI tracks from the composer to drive my animations in both TouchDesigner and Houdini. This project marked a shift in my thinking from “animate everything” to “automate anything I can.” I felt as much like a programmer as a designer/animator, and the installation was stronger for it.

9 Muses

In Greek mythology, the 9 Muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne (the Titaness of memory). They were believed to be the divine inspiration and custodians behind human creativity, literature, the arts, and the sciences.

One of the biggest challenges of this installation was that viewers literally walked on and through it. It wouldn't be seen from a single perspective—it had to work from every angle. Creating and delivering projection content for that kind of viewing experience was a huge challenge, both technically and creatively. Art and science, perfectly appropriate for the venue.

3 Face

The physical artwork highlights that the empty space separating them is ultimately irreconcilable, symbolizing the fundamental gaps in human communication and connection.

This was the first piece I tackled for this install. Again, visitors could literally move through the projected content. Developing a way to create and deliver striking visuals within the UV space of the sculpture, rather than the “screen” space of the projector, was the biggest shift for me as an artist.

Memory

The sculpture explores how memory is formed and retained. Rather than presenting a literal or figurative shape, the pure, simplified form invites viewers to project their own internal reflections, thoughts, and quiet recollections onto the stone. It treats memory not as a static picture, but as a polished, evolving impression shaped by time and focus.

Interestingly enough, Memory wasn't meant to be a focal point, but rather an ambient piece experienced as viewers moved between the larger works. However, the proximity of the projector and the sculpture's surface—which proved to be an amazing canvas for projection—drew the audience in. It was also one of the few pieces where content could be delivered in screen space, giving me more freedom to create effects that would otherwise have been unachievable.

It's a wrap.

NightForms at Grounds For Sculpture was a two-year installation, refreshed for its second season. The first year was a huge shift in how I approached content creation, as visitors could move through the work and experience it from every angle. It challenged me to think beyond the screen and consider the physical space itself as part of the canvas.

Sadly, the content is no longer live, but it remains one of the most special projects I’ve had the pleasure of working on. Big thanks to Klip for the amazing opportunity.
