As part of a travelling exhibition, Klip was commissioned to illustrate the creation and deterioration of the terracotta figures found in Xi’an, China. While working as Senior 3D Artist / Technical Director at Monogram, I created an animated sequence showing the firing, glazing, painting, and eventual decay of the figure, which was projected onto a full-size recreation of the iconic Terracotta Warrior.
Process
This was the project that forced me to finally jump into Houdini with both feet. I had to create a system to handle, fracturing, triggering the simuation and driving the decay of the texture system all driven by hand animated 2d masks.
Installation
It's a wrap.
